She had dressed looking perfectly polished in a dark red and black patterned knee-length dress for a sophisticated dinner at Chi Lin in West Hollywood.
But Vanessa Hudgens managed to flash a little more flesh than originally intended as she attempted to get out of her car in the clinging number on Tuesday night.
The 25-year-old showed off her long toned legs while manoeuvring her way out of the vehicle before giggling her way to the restaurant with her female friend.
Fortunately, Vanessa soon recovered her composure, tottering into the restaurant Chi Lin clutching her friend's hand.
The High School Musical actress wore her hair in a tumbling half ponytail, with sixties style cat's eye make-up and pale lipstick completing the look.
She teamed her Camilla & Marc dress with a pair of sky-high black stiletto heels and a black coat. She accessorised perfectly with a glittering red clutch bag.
Later, Vanessa headed to the Svedka pre-Valentine's cocktail party called 'A shot through the heart,' which was held at DBA in Hollywood.
Actresses Kate Mara and Nikki Reed also attended the glitzy bash which had an open bar.
Vanessa has recently been promoting her low budget film Gimme Shelter in which she plays a pregnant teenager who ends up homeless and living in a shelter.
Vanessa gained 15lbs to play the character, but has since admitted she didn't feel comfortable at the heavier size.
Speaking on The View about her weight gain, Vanessa previously said: 'I didn't feel comfortable in my body because I gained this weight.
She also admitted that didn't 'recognise' herself after gaining weight for the role and said she got back into shape but that it took 'a lot of hard work and dedication.'
Vanessa – who is a keen yoga enthusiast - added: 'I am kind of a fitness fanatic I’m an earthy girl.'
Previously, Vanessa revealed that her friends were left 'concerned' when she wrapped the movie because she had immersed herself so much into the role of homeless pregnant teenager Apple.
She had lost her sense of self and was in 'a bit of a mess'.
She said: 'I didn't really know who I was - Vanessa was gone. I came home and I was a complete disaster.
'I wasn't really comfortable in social situations and my self-esteem was super low because I had no hair and I had put on all this weight.
'So physically I didn't feel attractive. And I was single.'
