You can bet your life that every item Kim Kardashian was wearing on Wednesday afternoon came with a designer price tag. 

And yet, Kim, 33, found herself an unlikely leveller of the people by proving that just because you chuck a lot of money at an outfit, doesn't mean it's going to work. 

It's a bit of shock to see the future Mrs Kanye West enduring such a fashion fail as her husband-to-be has done great work in terms of bringing couture into the Cali girl's vocabulary.

There's every chance that Wednesday's items could look good in different ensembles.

But the baggy sheer top - plunging, natch - juxtaposed with the sludgy coloured leather pencil skirt made Kim look like she'd cobbled a look together from trash bags. 

And the nerdy thick frame sunglasses just looked bizarre; hipster being one look the mercurial Kim just can't pull off. 

As for the boots, did Kanye never tell his missus that beige and grey's a fashion non starter? 

The length of both skirt and boots did nothing for the pocket Venus, but somehow Kim managed to style the disaster out with a pointed strut and even sharper cheekbones. 

Momager Kris Jenner's graphic frock was a step in the right direction, though whether or not you approve of her showing a bit of bra through top is another matter altogether.
